Problem

Buraco players are very engaged in the social gameplay of the game, they want to chat, make friends and also challenge themselves. They also like to customize their profile to show who they're using their profile picture. Most of the players are 35+ years old and enjoy playing with the same partners or with friends. It’s also not kind to delay much to take action during gameplay because the matches are already long.

Process

We wanted to create a feature that they could show off their achievements, custom their profile and also have quicker ways to interact during gameplay:


  • Create a Survey with the players to know their needs and prioritize them;
  • HEARTS framework to help us see their player's perspectives;
  • Benchmarks, Wireframes, and Navigation Flow;
  • Prototype playable, and a Usability Test with 10 players, with non-subscribers and subscribers;
  • Improvements with the UT results.

Solution

After all the UX processes we made the interface following the guidelines and the art direction of the game, which included:


  • User Interface, with vector (Figma) illustrations and cute/cartoonish;
  • The Achievements were: Frames for profile pictures, Emojis for multiplayer gameplay, and new Canasta animations when the player completes a canasta;
  • All the animations were made with Spine or Unity UGUI animator;
  • All the screens and sprites were made on Figma exported and Implemented on Unity UI.
