Briefing

The Euchre game is a very popular American game played mostly in Michigan and Ohio but also the Ontario province of Canada, we've worked a long time in the game and made a bunch of updates to improve intuitiveness.

However, the game had some regular updates from other teams and it was difficult to maintain the same visual identity while it wasn't passing by us all the time.

Process

We've decided to make a Design System for the game, so all the buttons, interactions and mainly styling would be replicable through other teams in the company without needing a major pause on our team to verify it:


  • Benchmark good and practical Design Systems;
  • Lack of reference in the game industry;
  • Separate all the buttons, illustrations, interactions, animation styles, and IMP tips;
  • Documentation of all it in pages to facilitate search.

Results

The result was a full documentation of all the game in a Confluence page with subpages:


  • We give a name to this Design System "Guaxinim" which is Raccoon in Portuguese and the game mascot was a Raccoon;
  • About 6 pages of documentation are separated into Intro, Typography, Colours, Illustrations, Buttons, and Animations.
